Scope
The survey was commisioned by Cork County Council for proposed Flood Relief works in Midelton.
The Scope of works included the detailed topographical and hydrographic survey of the survey area which was located at several key locations along the Owenacurra/ Dungourney Rivers and their tributaries including the Water Rock and Ballinacurra Streams.
The site comprised of a mixture of residential, commercial, industrial, roads and park areas.
Key Activities
Liaising with relevant authorities, landowners, and utility service providers to obtain access to lands was a crucial aspect of this survey project. This involved coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure that the survey team had the necessary permissions and resources to carry out their work safely and efficiently.
By surveying the top and bottom of banks, bed levels, thickness, alignment, and type of construction of walls, the team was able to gather crucial data on the local terrain.
Structure detail surveyed such as bridge piers and abutments, soffit level of bridges, hard and soft river bed levels on a 5m grid, details of river banks, spot levels on the 5m grid.
Additionally, the surveyors measured street furniture, service poles, and overhead lines, threshold levels, finished floor levels of all buildings, road edge lines, centrelines, and kerb heights at 10m intervals.
Data was then used to create detailed 2D & 3D topographic survey drawings in AutoCAD format, as well as a digital terrain model.
