Scope
Apex Surveys were commissioned by TII to undertake an Underground Utility Survey to provide information in respect of existing underground utilities to inform the Preliminary Design and Environmental Impact Assessment for the MetroLink project.
Lot 1 Site works extended from Estuary to Naul Road (north of the Dublin Airport) covering an approximate area of 716,000 SQM. Lot 2 Site works extended from Dublin Airport to Gateway Crescent (Ballymun) covering an approximate area of 1,228,000 SQM.
The site works were carried out within the public realm in both urban and suburban areas as well as on private property where access was obtained prior to commencement of works.
Key Activities
Third Party liaison with relevant councils, service providers, and private landowners was conducted throughout the project. This involved coordinating with these stakeholders to ensure that our survey activities did not interfere with their operations or schedules, as well as keeping them informed of any changes or updates related to the survey work.
For example, we worked closely with local authorities to manage traffic flow around the survey locations and ensure that pedestrians were safely diverted around the area during our investigations, we also communicated and worked with utility providers as appropriate in relation to investigating specific utility assets on site.
To achieve quality level B1P in accordance with PAS 128, we completed desktop utility record searches (survey type D), site reconnaissance (survey type C), and site surveys (utilities detection – survey type B).
Data was processed to produce BIM models of existing utilities with associated metadata and attributes, GIS output, MICROSTATION output, and AutoCAD output.
